DNS SRV Record

SRV Records
Service Location Resource Record
To facilitaes the location of a domain controller
Identifies the computers that  provide services for which the SRV record is created                      

Format: _service._protocol.domain TTL class SRV priority weight port target
Example: _ldap._tcp.contoso.com 600 IN SRV 0 100 389 dc1.contoso.com

Service: The service that this record identifies. This service identifies this server that will respond to LDAP request
Protocol: TCP, UDP
Domain: Name of the domain for which this SRV record is registered
TTL: Time to Live for this SRV record
Class: DNS Class Field (Always IN)
SRV: Service Record
Priority: Client tries to connect to the server with the lowest priority
Weight: For load balancing. Client choose the record with higher weight
Port: Port used by the Service for which this SRV is Created
Target: Doamin Controller which will service the request
